Everything You Need to Know

Why are we doing this?

Holiday Toy Swap-It! is designed to help families stretch their holiday budgets and to give toys a second life instead of sending them to the landfill.

Who it’s for & cost

This event is free. There are no income requirements and no questions asked. Any parent or caregiver who would like to trade toys or stretch their holiday budget is welcome.

If you aren’t able to bring toys this year, you’re still welcome at Shopping Day. We’ll have a limited number of extra tickets so every caregiver can choose a few gifts.

This event is for adults only so gifts can stay a surprise for kids.

Drop-off Days: Bring Toys. (No Shopping Yet)

Drop off toys your kids no longer use on any of these days:

  • Day 1: Sunday, December 14, 1:00–5:00 p.m.
  • Day 2: Monday, December 15, 4:00–7:00 p.m.
  • Day 3: Tuesday, December 16, 4:00–7:00 p.m.

During drop-off, we will:

  • Check items to be sure they are clean and safe.
  • Accept up to five (5) items per adult.
  • Give you one Swap-It! ticket for each accepted item (maximum 5 tickets).
  • We’ll log your tickets so you can use them on Shopping Day.

Shopping Day: Use Tickets to Choose Toys

On Saturday, December 20 between 12:00–5:00 p.m., return to iGeneration Youth and use your tickets to “shop” from all the toys collected during the week. Each toy costs one ticket, so most people will leave with about the same number of items they brought—just different ones.

To keep things fair and avoid crowding, each parent or caregiver signs up for a one-hour shopping window on Shopping Day. Please plan to arrive and finish your shopping within that window.

If you can’t attend in person, you may designate another adult to shop for you during your time window using your tickets so you can still participate.

Please remember to bring your own reusable bags or totes so you can carry your toys home easily.

What to bring

Items should be:

  • Gently used, clean, and in working condition
  • Appropriate for children (no violent or graphic content)

Examples:

  • Toys
  • Board games and puzzles (with all pieces)
  • Building toys (blocks, LEGO, etc.)
  • Dolls, figures, and playsets
  • Art and craft kits (unused or mostly complete)

What we cannot accept

  • Broken, unsafe, or dirty items
  • Toys with missing critical pieces
  • Toy weapons
  • Items with strong odors or visible mold
  • Stuffed animals, for cleanliness/allergy reasons

What happens to leftover toys?

Any toys that are not selected on Shopping Day will be donated to local organizations that support children and families.
